A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Department of Pediatrics at UTHSC. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Joan Han, Director of the Pediatric Obesity Program, on identifying the molecular mechanisms that disrupt or maintain energy homeostasis, particularly in the central regulatory pathways of metabolism. Research is intended to lead to publications in high-quality peer reviewed journals, successful grant submissions, and development of novel therapeutic strategies for the prevention and treatment of obesity and obesity-related metabolic complications. Qualifications Applicants should have a PhD in the biomedical sciences, molecular biology, genetics, or a related field, with at least two years of training in an obesity-related research field. Applicants should have a strong background in metabolism and central nervous system biology. Knowledge and experience with cell culture manipulation and animal model experimentation is essential. Experience conducting in vivo and ex vivo metabolic analyses is highly desirable. Experience in mouse behavior and metabolic phenotyping is preferred. Necessary Qualifications: A PhD in the biomedical sciences or related field At least 2 years of prior training in obesity research Background in central nervous system biology Animal breeding, experimentation, and surgical experience Murine/mammalian/human cell culture experience Project management/coordination experience Publications in peer-reviewed journals covered by SCI, SCI-Expended, or PubMed. B.
