Assists in the management of Hospital Professional Liability (HPL) claims. Orients/prepares to assume responsibility for handling Hospital General Liability (GL) claims from inception to resolution. Maintains related systems to support these functions.

:Investigates claims which may include meetings with staff reviewing location of incident, requesting and reviewing medical records, obtaining release from patient for access to medical records from outside facilities if necessary.
:Evaluates and determines potential liability and proceeds with resolution of meritorious claims.
:Work with attorneys on initial investigation and follow:up investigation of event.
:Attend interviews/meetings with attorney and staff members.
:Complete interrogatories and production of documents.
:Attend pre:deposition meetings depositions and any meetings with defendant.
:Work with attorneys to determine feasibility of settlement or litigation on each case.
:Provide support to staff members involved in litigation.
:Contact staff members regarding hearing dates, settlement, etc.
:Document claims information throughout litigation process. Document settlements, payments, and jury verdicts. 13;

:The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
:Must have good balance and coordination.
:The physical requirements of this position are: light work : exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
:The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
:The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work. 13;
